BigCommerce products and variant prices
Load your BigCommerce catalogue into Excel or the web app, change prices in the rows and publish them back to your store. This guide changes a variant's prices — price, sale price, retail price and cost price; the same update also takes its SKU, MAP price, stock and warning level, whether purchasing is disabled, its weight, UPC, MPN, GTIN and image URL. Its option values are read-only here.
Find the products
- Insert a LinkyFlow query, choose BigCommerce, then the query Products.
- Narrow before loading with SKU or Name (exact), Keyword (searches the name, the SKU and the description), Type, Availability, Visible, Category or Brand ID — or ID to read exactly one product.
- Run the query and note the ID of the products whose variants you want to price.
Each product lists the IDs of its categories in Category IDs; the query Categories gives the name, parent and visibility behind each ID.
Load the variants
- Choose the query Product Variants.
- In Product, give the parent product — up to five products at once.
- Run the query. Each row is one variant: its SKU, its Price, Sale Price, Retail Price and Cost Price, the Effective Price BigCommerce computes, its Inventory Level and its Option Values.
Change the prices and publish
- Edit Price, Sale Price, Retail Price or Cost Price in the rows. Leave ID and Product as loaded: they name the variant.
- Publish. BigCommerce takes prices as numbers: a number, or a cell holding text such as
"19.99", is sent as a number. - Read each row's result. A row BigCommerce refused says why. A write BigCommerce applied only in part says so: check the record — reload the variants — before sending it again.
Effective Price is computed by BigCommerce from the list and sale prices: it is read-only. Empty a variant's Price to hand it back to the product's price.
Product prices and new products
The same flow works on the query Products: edit the prices, the inventory level, the availability, the visibility or the categories of a product and publish, or add rows to create products — a new product needs a Name, a Type (physical or digital), a Price and a Weight.
In a cell
Each query is also an Excel function, among them =LF.bigcommerce.products, =LF.bigcommerce.productVariants and =LF.bigcommerce.categories. A function reads; prices are changed from the query table. The BigCommerce connection reference prints each function with its arguments.
Use the BigCommerce Product Catalog and BigCommerce Variant Prices dashboards of the LinkyFlow web app and the Excel add-in for ready-made KPI rows (products, visible, out of stock, units in stock; lowest and highest price, variants on sale) over these queries.
