Odoo connection setup
This guide walks you through checking your database, creating an API key and connecting the database to LinkyFlow so you can load your accounting, sales, purchases and contacts in Excel or in the web app.
Requirements
- A database on Odoo 19 or later, because LinkyFlow uses its external JSON-2 API. An address where no JSON-2 API answers is refused.
- A plan of Odoo with access to the external API. Odoo's pricing lists it on the Custom plan, not on One App Free or Standard. LinkyFlow has not been tested on those two plans, or on Odoo.sh: check your plan before you count on it. Where the API is closed, the connection cannot work.
- An address served over
https://. A server that holds several databases must choose one from its host name: LinkyFlow does not name a database. - An Odoo user who may read and write what you want LinkyFlow to read and write: the key acts as that user, record rules included, in that user's default company
Step 1 — Create an API key
The names below are those of Odoo in English.
- In Odoo, click your avatar, then Preferences → Account Security → New API Key.
- Name it
LinkyFlow. - For its duration, choose Persistent Key if you are an administrator, otherwise the longest Odoo offers. When a key expires, Odoo refuses LinkyFlow's calls until you replace it, and LinkyFlow cannot renew it.
- Confirm your password, then copy the key. It is shown only once. A password never works in its place.
Step 2 — Add the connection in LinkyFlow
- In Excel or the web app, open Connections → Add connection.
- Choose Odoo from the provider list.
- Paste the API Key and the Instance URL: the address your browser shows, like
https://mycompany.odoo.com. A page of Odoo's web client is kept as its address; any other path is refused. - Save.
When the connection is saved or synced, LinkyFlow reads what the key's user may do, model by model: nothing is written to find out. A right the user lacks is shown as not granted while the others keep working; a user with no right LinkyFlow reads is refused. The first sync names the connection after your company.
If the connection is refused
If LinkyFlow says the address serves no Odoo 19 API, check the address and the version of your database. If LinkyFlow says the key is refused, it was revoked, it has expired or it belongs to another database: create a new key in Odoo and edit the connection. If a query is said to be unavailable, the app it reads is not installed in your database, Sales or Purchase for example: install it in Odoo, then sync the connection.
When the key expires
At each sync LinkyFlow reads the date of the key and warns you from 7 days before it, in the list of connections and on the connection's page. It tells which key is yours when the user has only one, or only one still valid: with several, it says it does not know. One key per integration keeps the warning.
Step 3 — Load your first query
- Insert a LinkyFlow query and pick the Odoo provider.
- Choose Invoices, select your connection in the Link field, and run it — the first 100 invoices load by default, and a page holds up to 200.
- Use the arrows to page through results, or pick All results to read the pages in a row: at most 200 pages of 200 rows, and LinkyFlow says when it stopped there.
LinkyFlow keeps the API key server-side: it is never shown again, and never sent to an AI assistant.
